Impulse Cooktop and the 25D Residential Clean Energy Tax Credit

October 11, 2025

The 25D Residential Clean Energy Tax Credit

The Impulse Cooktop was designed to qualify for the Section 25D Residential Clean Energy Tax Credit

The 25D credit provides a 30% federal tax credit for qualified residential clean energy systems, including battery energy storage. This tax credit is not means tested, and can be claimed in full regardless of income. It is non-refundable but may be carried forward to future tax years.

Impulse Cooktops must be received and put into service (plugged in) before December 31, 2025 in order to qualify.

FAQs

How is the credit claimed? Taxpayers claim the 25D credit by filing IRS Form 5695 for the tax year in which the system is placed in service. The credit applies to the full installed cost, including equipment and labor. Customers are responsible for applying for all tax credits themselves.

Can renters claim the credit? Yes. Renters may claim the credit if they purchase and own the Impulse Cooktop and install it in a residence they occupy. Ownership of the qualifying energy storage system determines eligibility, not ownership of the property. If a landlord purchases and installs the system, the landlord is the eligible claimant.
